Inline-skating and speed skating
In spring and summer we practice inline-skating at the sports center OpNoord, where we use the 400 m cycle/skate track. Beginners and/or small children train at a nearby school square.
The training is on Saturday morning, provided by our trainers: Eveline van Oosterhout, Marte Willemsen and Marijn van Os. We are still looking for new trainers and supporting staff. So if you want to lend a hand, please contact us at email@example.com.
Inline skating is the closest you can get to the ice skating technique. Inline skating will help you develop: your skating posture, stronger ankle muscles, a better and prolonged sideway push, and a better cornering technique both anti-clockwise and clockwise. The inline starting and braking techniques are also part of the training.
We have specific training groups for children, beginners and advanced riders. So all IJCE members are welcome as we have a group for all levels and ambitions.
- When do we start?
We start training mid April. Look in the agenda for the precise date of the first training. All trainings are also included in the calendar.
- What are the training times and locations?
8:45-9:45: training for young children and beginning adults. These trainings take place on the cycle/skate track at OpNoord. On occasion, (part of) the training is done at the school square of the Stedelijk College. Please be there 15 minutes in advance (so at 8:30) to put on your skates and protection (head, wrist, elbow and knees). The parking and track at OpNoord open at 8:30.
10:00-11:00: training for the more advanced youngsters and adults on the cycle/skate track at OpNoord. In between the beginner and advanced training, there is a time period of 15 minutes to do a warming-up. Of course, be careful with our smaller members from the first training hour.
All trainings are about one hour. After that, there is an opportunity to use the track if there are no activities organized at OpNoord. In the Paviljoen at the track, you can get a cup of coffee, tea or a soda.

- What are the costs?

- Is it only for IJCE members?
No, non-IJCE members can also participate, but pay a higher fee. Check the membership fee page.
- What equipment do I need?
To participate you need inline skates or speed skates and proper protection. A helmet and proper joint protection (wrist, elbow, knees) are compulsory. For the introductory lesson we have some equipment in common sizes that can be used for that occasion. Please inquire after the possibilities BEFOREHAND at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Where can I buy inline-skates/speed skates and protection?
There are several shops in the neighbourhood: Rono Sport in Eindhoven, Decathlon in Best, or De Wit in Schijndel.
- When does the inline season end?
Training continues until mid September. The season consists of about 20 training sessions. In mid summer there is a break of 4 weeks (end of July, beginning of Augustus) when there will be no training.
- Can I try it out, before I register for participation?
Yes, you can have one free introductory training/lesson. Apply for this using the button above. After that, you decide if you want to join.
- How are membership fees paid?
After you apply for a membership you will receive a confirmation from our member administration together with an overview of the costs and the method of payment (generally automated bank transfer).
